The Goosey Moment
Shaqullie O’Neil is one of the first names that springs to mind when you think of dominant centres that have played the game. His dunks became famous throughout his career and many opposition have stepped aside when his massive frame was on its way to the ring. Unfortunately for Chris Dudley he didn't have this fortune. On March 28, 1999, the Lakers were playing the Knicks. In the fourth quarter, the Lakers had the lead and the ball. Kobe Bryant passed the ball to O’Neal, who was on the block, and Dudley was defending him. When O’Neal got the ball, he was able to back Dudley down and dunk all over him. After the dunk, O’Neal aggressively pushed O’Neal away which added to the embarrassment and that’s when Dudley reacted by throwing the ball at Shaq and subsequently being ejected, to the delight of the Lakers fans. It was this reaction along with the dunk itself which still has NBA fans talking about the incident 22 years later.
